My first scorpion

This is my first scorpion, a Heterometrus petersii. Set him up with 4" moist substrate. Tested it, so it would hold for burrowing. He's got waterdish and to hidingplaces. He's got two favourite spots. One close to the Christmas tree, and the other where he is in picture. My biggest concern is that he doesn't burrow? Any input would be appreciated. Thx.

what size enclosure ? how deep is substrate? what type of substrate?

Enclosure is 8.4 gallon, 19.6"x15.3"x10.2"
Substrate is topsoil mixed with cocofiber and some vermiculite. He seems relaxed, alternates between two favourite spots. React quickly and defensive to any disturbance, but calms down quickly.

Mine never made his own. Until I pre started one about an inch deep and he took it from there until he hit the bottom. From there on out he never used his Hide
