Thinking about getting my first centipede. I've had a variety of tarantulas and some scorpions over the years and well I think it'd be kind of interesting to try something new.. I was looking into the Scolopendra alternans. Any suggestions or pointers?

At the moment I think the S. alternans from Florida are your best bet since they're a decent size, easy to keep alive, and not too expensive. S. polymorpha would be good but the ones available are usually barely 3".

i want an alternans but i am a little low on the critter funds and critter space. they are cool looking. the solid color shows confidence and a certain amount of self-esteem. that, and the big fangs.

Do they grow the same as T's and scorpions?
They molt, yes.
My first centipede was an Alipes grandidieri and even though it didn't get as large as the one you're mentioning, listening to it stridulate was pretty cool.
