IMG_0904.JPG Today, I came back from school to find that my Scolopendra morsitans had passed away, after over six years in my ownership. I am truly heartbroken. RIP buddy, you are the number one reason I love bugs the way I do. I will never forget you.
To commemorate him, here is every pic of him I can find on my phone.

And here are all my vids of him. As you can see, he was a very docile centipede, and felt more like a pet than any other bug I have every kept.

I'm so sorry for your loss. 6 years is a good life for a scolopendra morsitans. I'm sure it had the best possible life you could give it

TBH I estimate its full age at over ten years. He was already pretty much fully grown when I got him.

Absolutely horrific losing a pet.

Having him alive and well for 6 years is a testament to the care you gave him.

Eternal 'Hail' to your specimen that, through the immortality of your videos, forever will prove to others how much intelligents and social those predators are.

This isn't an end but the beginning, my friend.

Thanks for all the condolences guys. It really means a lot to me. I buried him under my desert rose plant, and have made a little polymer clay model of him to attach to my keys.

The only thing that I can't stand when it comes to centipedes is that their lifespan (females as well) isn't nowhere near like certain females NW T's... unfair, period :-(

Just saying, some guy said that they could live to thirty years. Normally, I'd dismiss such a claim but this was coming from a guy who knows what he is talking about and has kept literally hundreds of pedes.

It's so sad to be seeing this my little guy went last week. It was because of your posts and videos that I started to socialise him, I never got the chance to go as far as you did but it was enough to change my view forever so thank you

Was it starting to calm down noticeably? Deeply sorry for your loss, though I'm glad to see that my centipede has clearly left a legacy.

I'd say it was placid/scared maybe? from the start, every time I tried to hand feed it'd curl up, the same when I'd put my fingers in and I'd leave them still for about 10 minutes a time, when I'd stroke it the back end would raise at first then go down, but always going up when I went near, always moved the antennae out the way of my fingers to, this was in in a time scale of about two weeks which is a shame because I got it last August! Thank you, it really has I'm truly gutted and sorry that yours has gone!
