my b hamorii has finally started molting

Hey guys so my unsexed b hamorii is sheding can i have a bit of advice what to do with old skin to sex plz i really hope she is female as i belive if male ive only got a year with it and not had it long

Are you asking how to sex the shed, or how to get the shed out for sexing?

If the former, you can take a picture and post it here, someone will be able to help. As for the second, you're lucky they're molting out in the open like that as it means it will be easier to grab it but you want to wait until it's safe. You'll want to take a picture of the old skin like this:



With the abdomen spread out nice because we need to see between the book lungs (those white spots)

You can soak the molt in water with just a touch of dish liquid in it. Once it is soft, carefully lay it out (I use a paper towel) and photograph the abdomen as close as you can get to the 1st set of book lungs.


You can then look for the girl parts to determine the sex.

No girl parts and you have a male.


Girl parts (the golden bits) and it's well... a girl.


Good luck on the molt.
