Moulting season....

I have to assume there is a preferable season for T's to moult. Sometime in the wild where the condtions are optimum. That being said, how does that tranlate to captives ? Do they still feel the " call of nature " for seasonal moulting like their wild brethren ?

Schultz alluded to seasonal moults in "tarantula's Keepers Guide"

Oh, I see. In captivity, you can mimic the natural seasonal cycle but that is the only way for them to key in on what season it's suppose to be. They are capable of molting year around but the warmer, moist, food abundant spring and early summer would be ideal.

Ahhh, so based on that, its NOT more likely that south american T's will moult in the northern's winter then.

Now I know, and knowing is half the battle :)
