My 20 year old stepdaughter, her boyfriend and their 10-month old daughter came over Sunday to celebrate mother's day with me. The gift the brought me: AN ADULT H. MACULATA!!!! How thoughtful is that? They took the time to go out and buy something I'd really enjoy. Made my day after losing Rio.

So, all you devoted hubbys and boyfriends out there, here's a hint:

Roses die way faster than a mature male tarantula,
Perfume will make you sneeze, and evaporates anyway,
Chocolate is for monthly medicinal purposes only and just makes us fat,
Diamonds pale in comparison to the sapphire glow of an h. lividium or the sparkling rose of a g. rosea's carapace,
The pelts of dead little animals made into a coat can't compare to the gorgeous curly coat of a brachypelma albopilosum,
SO, IF YOU CARE ENOUGH TO SEND THE VERY BEST,
Screw Hallmark, send her a tarantula!!!

(T-Girls, scroll down, click "show printable version", make a printout and put it one top of your honey's pillow!!!)

What a great idea. I think I'll even put a copy on the fridge that way someone will see and with directions to the pet stores that carry the best Ts. :D

My dad would have a heart attack if I gave him a T for father's day...He doesn't like spiders. Maybe I should give your message to my fiance to give him a hint on what to get me for my birthday. :)

Leave it to kids to find the perfect gift. That is how I got into this hobby all those years ago. My daughters bought me my first "T". Now I know what to look forward to on fathers day!!:D

That looks to me like it could be a Pterinochilus species... maybe murinus (Mombassa Golden Starburst) or the "Dodoma Baboon"... maybe it's just the angle. Do you have any more pictures? Maybe it just needs a good molt! :}

"Dodoma": www.arachnopets.com/tarantulas/tgallery/pspdodoma01.htm

(the color doesn't show well on the 2nd picture... I've seen Mombassas that had the exact coloration as in your picture)

Edit: Forgot to say that my vote is for the Mombassa because of the patterning on the abdomen. The Dodoma Baboon's patterning doesn't quite look the same.....

Hey it is still a cool tarantula, it just prefers a burrow over cork bark.

It's an understandable mixup, the common names are similar: Mombassa Golden Starburst and Togo Starburst. Regardless, you have a beautiful spider!
