Hardrurus spadix/arizonensis are very active, and they're very interesting, sometimes stinging their preys, digging alot, etc. I recommend them if you don't already have one!

An adult for 15$ is a very good price, you should read a bit more on this species and buy one, they're very very interesting.

I think if you want a really active pet you should try getting your girl-friend pregnant. I hear babies are a handfull. heh, just kidding. There are exceptions to eeevvverrrything but i think i'm pretty well on-target when i say that scorpions are relatively reclusive and don't like to be analyzed by potential predators. I know H. arizonensis are fun- but, keep in mind they WILL burrow. That is, if you provide the proper enclosure. So you can count on not seeing them all the time. Digging or climbing, hiding, and then popping out to nab prey is how most work. standing in the middle of their cage or crawling against the glass while watching you watch them sounds more like reptile behavior. maybe a communal species would be the best bet. having a large tank with many scorpions usually insures that atleast one be visible at any given time.

Sean maybe since your from Az you could catch your own scorps. I would recomend Centruroides exilicauda or common arizona bark scorpion a very active and nice display scorp.

Mechanical: My h. arizonensis was always always out at night, he was never waiting at the entrance of its burrow... My friend's spadix does the same thing, and I'm pretty sure that I often saw people sayind that their desert hairies were going outside at night almost everynight. Where did you get the information that desert hairies always hides?

I think he wants a scorp that is out during the day. My H.arizonensis and H.spadix were very rarely seen in the day once they constructed their burrows. At night they would come out for a few hours to feed. I rarely saw mine.

i go to AZ every year for about a week on vacation. bark scorpions r pretty easy to find. they're under ALMOST anything big out of bark. i've caught about 6 in my times there. i got stung once from rolling a piece of bark over away from me, instead of towards me. hurt badly at the moment. more of a wasp sting, but kinda worse. my finger swelled half of it's size. felt tingly for a few days. but anyways, u can find them up in the early to late nights when it's not very hot out.

Frank:
nearly all of my scorpions come out for a nightly stroll as well. i was referring to day-light activity. my reply however, was to suggest setting up a communal tank simply because you would be more apt to see a scorpion during the day or any other time.

Well then I would go with the C.exilicauda that you should be able to easily find in your area if you are confident on dealing with a slightly hot species...they make good colonial setups as well.
