Found quite a few of these today. Anyone know what they are?

They build webs like widows but have pink eggsacs and build small hides in a leaf centrally located in their webs.

I thought that at first, but there are two major things wrong.

1. No hourglass
2. The eggsacs dont have spines/spikes

*edit* Second orb weaver is a Western Spotted Orbweaver - Neoscona oaxacensis

The first ones seem to be Achaearanea tepidariorum.
The second one could be Neoscona crucifera (?hentzi)
The third one think is also Neoscona sp. Is it possible to get a photo from below?

It looks similar to Achaearanea tepidariorum but these have almost perfectly round(and pink) eggsacs.

Maybe it is another Achaearanea sp?

At least the egg sacs I have seen are not perfectly round but look exactly like the one on your photo. The egg sacs of the three other Achaearanea spp. of my country are also similar in shape, but varies in colour.
Here are some links to egg sacs

EDIT: my girlfriend tells me that the egg sac on your photo is also pinkish. I'm not so good at colours my self... :)

Ok, after searching around I have decided that the first spiders are a Tidarren species, probably Tidarren mixtum, Tidarren haemorrhoidale, or Tidarren sisyphodies.

hi,
just a little comment:
Achaearanea tepidariorum has been synonymised and the correct name is now:

Parasteatoda tepidariorum

I had seen that name and wondered about it, thanks!

Great! I'm not familiar with that genus.

It has not actually been synonymised but transferred to another genus, a genus which was originally erected as a subgenus. It was elevated to genus level and later apparently synonymised with Achaearanea, and now (in 2006) removed from Achaearanea to generic level (with P. tepidariorum as type species). I wonder where the European A. simulans, A. lunata and A. riparia fit in all this... :)
