Look at it this way, if it weren't for the news we'd have one less comedy show on TV. Do people really believe those guys tell the truth about anything!?!?!?
No, I don't believe that the news media tells the truth period, except on rare occasions. The problem is that the politicians and the majority of the public DO believe them, and formulate their opinions and laws based on what they hear on the news. Case in point: BSL. The media reports every dog bite as a "pit bull mauling", every dog that does something bad becomes a "pit bull", and the public buys it. The politicians buy it, and laws are put into effect that kill innocent dogs and put innocent people in jail, while real criminals flaunt the law and go free. Same with this python garbage; all across the country, laws are being drafted to ban the ownership of reptiles, snakes especially, as the media plays on a fear that many people already needlessly have. I guess if these laws don't directly impact you, they'd be funny, or easily dismissed, but many of us here don't find much to laugh about. You and I might know that these Fox reports are garbage, but does Joe Blow Public know that?
