Molting question

Do spiders/tarantulas stop motling when there full grown? do they ever stop?

Yes the continue to molt when they are full grown as well. Its just part of the spiders cycle.

i thought males didnt molt after they hit maturity?

Speaking of molts my Tawny red baboon is molting right now hope everything goes ok.:)

A mature male will try to molt, but will in most cases, get stuck in its pedipalps bulbs and die. Although it has been done, and in most cases the male T will be somewhat deformed and sick looking.

I think Joy as posted some pics of her mature male that molted.

Cool jper ! Our T.Blondi is going into premolt it has been rejecting food for a few days and its adomen (spelling) is turning black

I've an ancient female G.Rosea that currently moults every three years or so, mainly to replenish the cells and what have you I think. Also keeps them nice and fresh for breeding. She's just laid her first set of eggs in her 16+ years of life.

Sorry I havn't been too detailed on this. Also they'll moult to re-generate limbs and 'heal' injuries etc...

Yeah MrT, I recall the mangled pics of her male's post-ultimate-moults. I remember the caption "BLONDI CHOW" as it limped to the blondi like a war veteran to the sun =D

EDIT: for some reason I wrote post-immature-moult :confused:

T's continue to molt throughout their lives, as mentioned, males tend to not make it through a post-ultimate molt, but females keep molting.
