I just got my two ivory millipedes shipped to me today and one of them has this strange marking on it’s backend. I’m a new millipede owner so I’m not sure if it’s a molting mishap or something more serious I should complain to the sender about?

Sorry for lack of a better photo he won’t stop moving lol. All legs are coordinated though and he’s moving and pooping. The other pede I bought is happy and healthy.

If he isn't limp or moving weird then he should be completely fine. Just looks like some shell damage/scratches from what I can see, but he should heal up by his next molt. :)

Hope that helps,
Dagan H.

They look like scars, It could've been from a bad molt.
Here's one of my scarlets for example:

I found him like that at the start of spring and he's still going on doing millipede things. I'm not sure if/when he'll molt again, but it makes him easier to recognize in the meantime.
