Hilo! My P.regius sling (4th instar) molted 2 weeks ago and still refuses food (only snaps at it). Its abdomen isn't in a worrying state as of now and since I'm new to keepers jumpers I was wondering if this was normal. I read that at this size, they harden up within a couple days, ready to eat. It's walking around, drinking fine. Is it concerning or it's only taking its sweet time like ts? I included a photo for reference for its abodmen. (doesn't look like it but it has cross vent and water available at all times as it has sub and a long flower coming from the cap of the pill cup)

Maybe offer water in the form of droplets on the side from mister/sprayer. Sometimes when bugs are dehydrated they won't eat.

2 weeks at that size is a little worrying, what prey and size are you using?

pinhead crickets
it used to take them before it molted so i dont think the size is an issue
i offer droplets everyday and also try to make it drink myself with a wet q tip which it sometimes drinks from (I also thought dehydration could be the cause)

After a molt jumpers can be shy with feeders. Two weeks is a long time and your spider's fangs should be plenty hardened by now, but I would offer a less intimidating feeder. Crickets have big jaws and they can bite. Try offering some flightless fruit flies.

does it kill the prey and not eat it?

doesn't kill it entirely no, only snaps at it
it really doesn't seem interested in it either it only snaps at it if it goes too close to it...
kind of worried honestly...its abdomen looks ok for now not worryingly small but aaaaa

well i've had tarantulas eat so much that they can molt twice without needing to be fed, hopefully that's the case.

maybe, its abdomen isn't worrying as of now but in a week i might get anxious...because it's not fat either

I'll try injuring them even more...i already remove their back legs so they can't jump and also their antannaes so they look less big and scary but i'll squeeze them a bit

getting spooked that the sucking stomach might have molted badly but idk...its back of its abdomen was stuck so i helped it aswell and it seems like its spinnerets and anus are free but I'll check the booklungs better when I arrive home

fantastic news!! it ate today I am beyond relieved I offered a really REALLY injured pinhead and it took it after a couple of minutes I was so scared to lose my baby it's my only jumper (I lost one during shipping, another died the next day most likely because of stress it was freshly out of its egg, one had three consecutive bad molts and passed away a couple of weeks ago stuck in its molt)

That's great news! I still think you should switch to flightless fruit flies. I think even pinhead crickets are too big and dangerous for such a small spider. This feeding guide from BigFatPhids is helpful for determining the size of prey items for your pet. 61704782_1124916131043598_6312440673337344000_n_large.jpg

Really happy to hear your baby's eating again!! Jumpers are one of my favorites and I know how much it hurts to lose em. Post pictures if you can!!

yea it used to eat pinheads just fine though so that's why I was worried...even at the 2nd instar it used to jump on pinheads even though I offered fruit flies aswell
I'm not as used to true spiders as I am with ts lmao
