Molt fang

Anyone ever prick themselves with a fang from a tarantula molt just to see how sharp they are? Curious how many other people have thought to do what I just did

Their fangs aren't needle sharp at the tip. If they were, the tip would break off as soon as the tarantula tried to bite something. They're somewhat rounded at the end to give it strength. But they are still very sharp and easily able to break human skin. I've heard that a big tarantula can bite through a leather boot. But anyway, how'd the experiment go?

Yeah, tried it with one of my A. geniculata's fangs recently out of curiosity lol.

Answer: Sharp enough to draw blood.
