I'm to old for a moderatum sling. I plan on getting one of these but its going to have to be a little older. Although I do have albiceps slings and they are mighty slow growers also. {D

moderatum molt

I was about to post asking why my moderatum hadn't molted. I have had it for about 2 years and last night was the first time it molted. It didn't put on much size. Anyone know how long it takes for them to mature? I was starting to worry about it..lol..i don't use heat, is that why?

I'm 45 jeff1962 so I'm not much younger:eek: . Cool to see it's siblings growing up in other families! I kept pretty many. Dave Moellendorf here in Austin said his females matured in about 9 or 10 years, ...a few years earlier for males. Ha, yeah I could barely tell mine molted too. Hard to imagine they mature even THAT soon.

Thats sooner than I thought. My Albiceps slings are a year old. One of the 5 just molted and it is just now showing a little adult colaration. How old were your moderatums before they did ?

I checked my two slings and one had indeed molted but was dragging the molt around. It was stuck to the abdomen! I thought for sure it was doomed but I gently held the molt with forceps and the little tyke pulled itself free. It appeared to be stuck on the tiny patch of hairs on the top of the abdomen. Everything seems fine today so hopefully we dodged a bullet.
