I am going to pick up a female New River that has a missing pedipalp. Is this a serious or minor issue. I know it will begin to regenerate with molts but this is an Aphonopela and molts do take a while. Thoughts please????????

It will take some time, but they will regenerate. For most spiders a missing pedipalp won't cause too many problems. I would disable her prey items by removing a few legs so that she can catch and hold it without much issue.

Exactly. I have nothing more to add. Good job. :)

The first thing id ask is why it is missing any limbs? If there was any kind of accident that caused the issue Id be lless inclinded to worry. if the T is droping limbs for no reason I would not buy it as I would be worried about spreading anything to my other Ts. unless it was one of those deals you cant pass up and then I would keep him issolated for a month or two in a different room of the house.

It should be fine with one. If both were missing then you'd have a problem.

Gumby, I seriously doubt theres a new contagious disease spreading around to our T's and making them drop limbs. There are a number of reasons why a T would drop or be missing a limb and none of the causes that I know of can spread. I would however be very curious to find out how that pedipalp went missing..

Had a G. rosea sling that ended up with both gone. Along with some other parts. I took small crickets and tore off all their legs and fed him. A few molts later he was good as new.

One only means that you have to cripple her prey a bit so that she can actualy eat. but if it was two pedipalps then you would have a problem
