Hi all, anyone know of any species (preferably on the smaller side but its okay if not) that are good for display setups? Species that aren’t burrowers. I have some Anoplodesmus saussurii and Chicobolus spinigerus that are always out and about walking around the tub or resting on the surface of the leaf litter and would love to have other species like this!

Flamelegs (Trigoniulus macropygus from Negros Island, Philippines) a long term captive since 2005 are currently available but not available every month of the year. Flamelegs are perfect millis for displays. Adults seldom burrow and are good for observation. Mature yellow dragons and pink dragons stay on the surface. Yellow dragons (Orthomorpha subkarschi) are good for display and adults are 2", pink dragons Desmoxytes planata are a LOT smaller. These have been available the last few years consistently.

Ohh those flameleg millipedes look amazing, not sure on my chances of finding them available in the UK though unless I get lucky! And I did have a small group of Desmoxytes planata but strangely they seem to have all died off. I read that they can live for a couple of years so im not sure it was old age, they were kept on moist leaf humus and white rotten oak and also fed on fish flake and cucumber, I'm hoping maybe they just laid their eggs and naturally came to the end of their life

I had to take a second look at "Pink Dragon" those legs and segments give it a Centipede Vibe.

Trigoniulus is a cool genus for easy viewing. That's a great suggestion.

The Trigoniulus corallinus we see around here on our farms are always out and about, even in summer sun. Bright riled, very ornamental. Easy eaters. Don't get big, 10cm max. They are pretty common, I bet someone out your way has some in captivity :)

I just saw them running all around the sidewalks in Florida.

Do you think it could be possible that they just died because they were old but some babies might show up soon?
It‘s not uncommon for wildcaught millipedes to die prematurely. All the new, suddenly available species are imported wildcaught adults/subadults. They don’t pop up from nowhere. Yes, they could have laid some eggs.

Best regards
