I’m back! I posted a thread yesterday about my organized bin system and labels but then I totally neglected to show any pictures of the millipedes inside the bins, my bad haha. As promised @Arthroverts, here it is!

So... would millipede babies be "plings" then?

Very attractive collection you have there too, by the way.

Do spider owners call their offspring slings? I've seen that term before but I don't think I put that together... that would be so typical of me to miss that! I call them pedelings because I like how it sounds but plings is effectively the same thing too, good catch! I love my ornatus except they have different care requirements than I'm used to compared to all of my other millipedes just with the need for ventilation but also humidity, I'm not really sure what makes them feel so different to me. I haven't had as much luck with them as my other species but I love them all the same :)

Yeah, "slings" here is in reference to spiderlings. It's always the prettiest ones that need the most attention, isn't it? LoL

I've definitely heard centipedelings called "plings" before, so I'd imagine millipedelings could also be called plings. I've never heard anyone do it, but I do like the idea!

I would love to have these again. I actually had them breeding but they crashed when I had to spend 3 weeks in the hospital.
Which ones? Sorry to hear you were in the hospital. I had a long streak of time where I wasn’t healthy so I totally understand about cultures crashing.

The Glomeris pulchra and another Glomeris sp. I don't remember the name off had but it also started with a "p".

I'm just obsessed with the Hiltonius! Where'd you find those? Also the P. angustus looks exactly like my Pseudopolydesmus serratus, no wonder they're "pseudopolydesmus."

Hiltonius came from Shawn Kramer, they’re a species from California. 2/3 died off because I was sick for awhile but the third one is doing much better now. They do look really similar! Your Pseudopolydesmus serratus are trying to copy my P. angustus vibes 😉😂😂 just kidding but yeah I finally got them breeding and kept the babies alive.

G. pustulata?

I hear "plings" more often used for centipede babies, and I feel it is more appropriate used for them lest there is confusion as to whether someone is talking about centipedes or millipedes. It's for the same reason that I do not refer to young scorpions as "slings" either, even though the term could be considered correct.
And besides, doesn't "millipedelings" just roll off the tongue so nicely?
;)

Thanks,

Arthroverts

All the photos I have seen in the past of Hiltonius hebes have just shown a drab browns. I haven’t seen any with the color contrasts. Those look awesome.
