Video footage of Michael Jacobi presenting his Merian's Avicularia and other Tarantulas of Suriname lecture at the American Tarantula Society 2014 conference on July 26, 2014. This presentation details Michael's November-December 2012 field trip to study the tarantulas of Suriname. The team included Guy Tansley, Paul Carpenter, and Andrew Smith and followed the end of the 17th century journey of pioneering naturalist and artist Maria Sibylla Merian. In addition to Avicularia tree tarantulas, the world's largest spider - the Goliath Birdeater (Theraphosa blondi), and a number of other tarantulas, the team encountered many reptiles, amphibians and other wonders of nature. There also is a separate film on this Michael Jacobi/Exotic Fauna YouTube channel that details the hunt for the Goliath Birdeater on the same field trip. This film is a production of Exotic Fauna Media, mjacobi.com
