I bought this Chilean Rose 'sling' today for £5.95. Its about the size of a Tegenaria with shorter hairier legs.
The shopkeeper said as he has a bald patch it looks like hes getting ready for a molt and so its best not to feed it. I bought some micro crickets anyway.

what kind of substrate is that?
Yup, its vermiculite, I prefer that to peat moss for several reasons, one of which is that peat moss is an important habitat in the UK that is sadly in decline.
BTW Scorp-Guy, is that a Solifugid in your avatar?

i would think vermiculite would be good, i have stopped using peat moss as we have a product over here in australia, coco peat, made from coconuts, just as good as the other suff, if you can get it i would give it a go

Phrixotrichus gala and Phrixotrichus spatulata is the old name of Grammostola rosea. RCF (red phase) is just an colorform of Grammostola rosea. ;)
