This is Mr. 7 who is now the latest part of my collection. Mr. 7 fell out of a pair of sweats that I pulled from the laundry hamper. Two years ago Mr. 7 would have been Mr squashed, but my new love of spiders changed that. You would have thought I found long lost tresaure as I ran to the spider room and carefully transferred Mr. 7 to his new home. Mr. 7 is eating well and has an attitude that most of my larger T's do not posess.

I can't really tell from the pic, but is it indeed a "Mr." 7? Looks sort of like a female Lycosa.

Heck I have no idea. I know the 7 part is right cause of the missing leg. Other then that I am lost. Any help would be appreciated. I am guessing that enclosure on the dry side is just fine. Will most likely move s(he) into a new enclosure with some plants this weekend.

Nice spider. 7 is a Lycosa, (wolf spider), an active hunter that likes to hide durring the day. A bottle cap of water and dry substrate would be fine. If she is gravid, you may end up with hundreds of babies on her back in the near future.:)

Well, Mr 7 is Ms 7 and I have a new egg sac! Not sure what I am going to do with hundreds of wolf spiders, and I guess the air holes will need to be a little smaller. I found the egg sac tonight tucked tightly under Ms 7, and I will try and take a picture and share. PLEASE, if anyone has any suggestions on what my next move is I would appreciate it. Not certain I can take care of that many wolf spiders, but not really looking forward to killing them either. O well, I guess I could put her in the garage and let nature take it's course. :8o

Nice spider! I am glad you didn't squish her :) I would let her keep that egg sac, and let them hatch. It will take a couple of months, but they will all be on her back, and not all over your house. After a week or so of them being on her back, just let her go one morning in your yard. But don't stress her right now by messing w/ her and that sac. She will eat it, or desert it :( I made that mistake years ago, teasing one w/ a cricket, to get her away from the sac. Then I reached in there, and took it out. In 2 days, she was dead:(

Just let it be for right now :)

Very nice.
How big is this specimen?
I guess she is about an 1". So, don't feed or anything? I could leave a dead cricket in there once in awhile but don't want to stress her. I will let her and the babies go as I do not have the nerve to kill them. It is pretty cool.

Thank you for the feed back and I will try and post some pictures soon.

Feeding is fine, it was the stress of the eggsac's removal that killed her, not the stress of eating.

In this picture you can see the egg sac that she is guarding in the back right side. Bad News. The eggsac just seemed to dry up and shrivel. She drug it around for a day and now it is just gone. O well, still a great little spider.
