Though I’s create a place where I could post updates and stuff on my fish, my other main hobby.

A. Cacatuoides(?) with fry- she’s not really a good parent and she spooks out really easily. This often causes her to literally leave them in the dust while she’s off hiding underneath some leaf or in some pvc pipe. The fry have been doing ok and are suprisingly fast at growing. They’re at least a week old and have put up with the mother’s antics quite well. They also eat a LOT of bbs.

Apistogramma panduro male. The “pair” I got still wants nothing to do but kill the other-_-

Male A. Cacatuoides/rocafuerte/alpahuayo. Wonderful male but won’t stop beating up the female I have him with.

I have a 72 gal. bowfront converted from sw to fw. I’ll add some pics when I get it setup.

If anyone has some good ideas for the 72 gallon I’d really appreciate it; I still haven’t made up my ind as to what I should put in there.

I have no idea why but it seems as if as soon as I post something about my pets everything goes downhill. i woke up today and now the water in the fry tank smells strongly of metal and is really cloudy. I saw the fry were gasping for air and were darting around the tank so I tried removing as many as I could into a more shallow deli cup to allow for better aeration but it looks like this spawn’s lost. They’ve been dropping like fleis and I’m really upset; water quality seems fine and the female’s doing ok.

Edit- seems like all the fry have succumbed to whatever’s wrong with the water. I’ll probably take a hiatus from spawning apistos after this then.

Nope, they just started dropping. About 2 weeks in and it looks like only 2 are left. I’m keeping them in little 16 oz deli cups with some plants since they can’t really find food by themselves. I’m doing 50% water changes on them as of right now. In the bright side looks like my other female cacatuoides spawned so I should be seeing a some fry in a couple of days.

How about an aquatic invertebrate tank?
There are some great salt water worms and crabs that would be interesting wo watch.
Freshwater shrimp and snails are pretty amazing too.
If you're just talking fish, I've seen blind cave tetras (captive bred) available online. I loved mine years ago and it would be great to have more people breeding them in captivity. I have plans to get into it once my place is ready for more enclosures.

I’m trying to stay away from saltwater since my dad already has 2 tanks(55 and 40 gallon) running and it seems way more advanced than what I’m used to. I decided to settle on oscars since I’m a sucker for their wet let personality and since I finally have enough room for one.

FINALLY GOT MY PANDURO TO SPAWN!!! Not the biggest spawn but it’s their first try and I will be honest and say that the tank wasn’t really all prepared for a spawn.

Cacatuoides female no. 1 with about 20 eggs. First spawn was only 8 but this was a surprise.

Cacatuoides no. 2, first spawn and about 20 fry. For some reason they keep disappearing so I might have to do something about the water parameters.

Congratulations! This is fantastic. Words cannot express how jealous I am!

This is inspiring me to get started on setting up my 60 gallon tank to start on a fish tank

Does anyone know how to care for the fry while I’m off on vacation for 5 days, they’re all a couple days old and I really don’t want anything bad happening to them

Bumping this back up, I traded the cf. cacatuoides for a m/f pair of borellii, probably opal. They haven’t bonded yet and the male keeps chasing out the female but there’s no serious damage and there’s also tons of places to hide so hopefully they’ll spawn at some point.
