impressive mantis you're holding there
that picture is taken in Greece i guess?

i would say a kind of mantis religiosa (female, only normaly with adult religiosa the wings cover the whole back of the mantis, with the one you're holding it only covers 1/2, butt the wings look fullgrown to me, so i guess it's an adult)

anyone else got a clue ?

actualu it's not my hand there...
it's a friend of mine who's holding the mandis.

Yes the pic was taken in Greece.
I've also found some other mandis but the majority were green, this is the only brown one that i've seen.

I dodn't own any mandis, I just posted the pics for all the mandis owners viewing pleasure.

mantis religiosa are commonly green (male religiosa are always green as far as i know) but the're also some colorvariations between the adult females.

i should go for religiosa, only that wing thing makes me a bit :?
