I purchased 4 mantis ootheca from a local garden center for pest control in my garden, lots to eat for them. On the instructions it says to hang the ootheca which has a twig on it to your bushes and the mantis will hatch outside.
None of the ootheca have any twigs on them they all were broken off.

I know I cant put them outside on the ground the birds will eat them instantly an they will get wet.

I ordered a mantis hatchery for them, but i still have the issue the ootheca will be on the ground of the nursery, I cant hang them anywhere. And I know mantis young hanging down when hatching.

Will they still hatch ok?

Glue them to something. I use hot glue that I let cool a little first. I always test the glue with a finger to make sure it's warm (ot hot!) before attching the ooths.

I dont have a hot glue gun, and crazy glue is toxic.

All this technology and no solutions? How about the crook of a three stemed branch? If green you could wrap two of the three stems together. Imagine the letter Y with the top two parts tied off at the top and a third left in place or also tied. If the bottom stem were long enough you could simply rest the contraption against a cage wall, jam it in the ground or affix it to a tree with toxic superglue (just kidding about that last part).

glueguns are like 3 dollars, and come in extremely handy, once you have them there is so many things that can be glued :p

like your fingers!

something else you could do is take a piece of paper, and cut ah ole in the center just long enough to slid the first part of the ootheca through-face down like a massage table, then place the paper over a container- and put lid on over that, the ootheca would then be hanging face down from the paper secured against the lid and more then enough room.
