Hello all!

I recently started breeding dubias in a tub. Yesterday, I noticed some maggots in the wet food bowl (I spot clean the tub once a week, wet food is bug burger in a bowl), I quickly replaced it and the dry food (plain oats) and noticed more maggots today. I just cleaned the whole tub with soap, and only put the dry food in for now. I also noticed a slight smell, but wrote it off as a general roach tub smell. Any advice with how to move forward with this?

When you say 'bug room' does that include your Ts?

I tend to avoid keeping feeders in the same room as my spiders as flies (who lay eggs that trun into maggots) are often attracted to any dead material in a T enclosure. So having a moist protein rich food and/or dead roaches is like ringing the dinner bell. More likely to have a breakout of flies in your T room with warm conditions and lots of food for them.

Just something to think about.
