My first attempt at making my own roach food has worked really well so far for all my roaches. I used to buy commercial ground roach meal which can cost $2.50 to $4.50 a pound plus shipping but that gets pricey when you have 1000's of hungry roaches so I researched what ingredients are in those foods and here's how I made mine. If anybody has any suggestions on how to improve this please let me know. I still put raw carrots, squash, bananas, apples, etc in their bins on a rotation. Nothing but the best for my babies! Here we go;
I mixed in a big bowl,
1 cup dry dog food
1 cup dry cat food
1 cup rabbit pellets
1/2 cup baby rice cereal
5 kelp pills
1 tbsp bee pollen
I ground this up in a fine meal using an old blender a bit at a time. If you make more than this I think it should be kept in the fridge but it's cold enough in the garage right now...

wow John, sounded like you are getting into the roach hobby now. I used to make roach buffet, but now that i think about it, it is really unneccessary.
dog food, rolled oat, fruit and veggies are enough.

...The roaches or the cheesecake? ;)

Fact is, lobster roaches will eat just about anything. I give mine a variety of fruits and vegetables, along with plenty of fish food. They grow like weeds. I have found that how often I water them seems to have bearing as well.

Here's the thing that's gonna make you happy...

...give them the cheapest dog food you can find.

I use dog food with 19% protein and I use them to feed a collection that's a few hundred individuals at any given moment.

Avoid high end dog foods at all cost...they have roach deterrents in them that have wiped out entire colonies in the past.

Ok, that's just a travesty to Cheesecake, seriously. Party foul!

But those roaches have the COOLEST heads! In the picture, it's like someone stenciled on their heads! What kind of roach is that?

mine seemed to enjoy duck heads (they even ate the damn beaks!), turkey legs, pudding cups (chocolate), pizza (not the crust so much, though), among all the more traditional foods =P
