Will be getting a .5” Linothele soon and found a decent amount about the husbandry for an adult but is there anything I should know about taking care of a sling?
How quick is quick growth wise? When can I expect adulthood in an environment at about 23°C?They grow very fast, and move very fast. Them being fast isn’t as much of a concern as it is for say, a huntsman though. They will web the snot out of everything and they don’t really leave that web, so they most likely wont bolt out of the enclosure.
For watering, just sprinkle water on the web every couple days. And don’t let them dry out. My slings did very well in a 32 ounce deli cup with cross ventilation, 2 inches of substrate, and some sticks or very thin pieces of cork propped up on the sides. I hot glued some cork chunks or leaves to the sides for more anchor points. They will make use of the entire enclosure, and I’d say they can stay in something that size until they’re at about 2” DLS.
I haven’t had any issues with mine, they’re ready eaters and molt about every 2 or three feedings for a while. They aren’t what most people would consider “hardy”, since I’ve heard of people losing them if they dry out for too long. Just don’t get complacent with that and you should be good.
I got 2 slings about 1/2” in august. They’re both pushing 3 inches now. About that temp give or take a couple degrees and feeding 1-2 times per week. How quick is quick growth wise? When can I expect adulthood in an environment at about 23°C?
