Legality issues taking insects from the wild?

Hey all,

I stumbled across this site when trying to ID a centipede that was in our house. We live in an area where they are building new homes so I am assuming they are being unearthed and forced to flee. I wanted to keep a few of these centipedes but I would like to know first, are they legal to keep? Their homes are being destroyed and i'm sure many are killed during excavations so I personally do not see why not. Please advise.

I'm not aware of any legal issues regarding keeping local myriapods, scorpions, or spiders in California. You should be fine.
