Today, while rehoming a couple of my OBT's I learned how to safely remove the adhesive from recycled plastic containers.
Rub it with vegetable oil ! It actually works great, then all you do is wash it with Dawn and let it dry, perfectly clean.

I didnt try the WD - 40, I did try a lot of other stuff but every thing that got rid of the adhesive did not leave the plastic clear, that always annoyed me, glad I found this trick. The website also said peanut butter would work, I'll try that tomorrow.

Too cool! That "removing-the-label-and-half-of-it-stays-behind" has been my pet peeve for ... well, EVER. Can't wait to try this - thanks, jt !!!

p.s. I'll get back to y'all with a report!

You might also just be able to heat it up with a hair dryer and peel it off imo.

I was referring to the fact it will remove labels not necessarily on T enclosures but in general. Besides if you are going to wash it well and it is on the outside it really shouldn't matter. There are food safe silicone sprays that can be used as well on sticky stuff and oil stains.

Thanks, I trash plastic whenever I remove the stickers. Just never bothered to look up a better way.

As far as plastic T enclosures go, I would be weary of heating them considering plastic often releases patrolium under heat. Sorry. Don't mean to put you on blast:)

Alcohol also works. It can be whiskey or rubbing alcohol, works the same. I'd recommend rubbing alcohol cuz, yaknow, there are better things to do with whiskey.

I have tried the alcohol method, it makes the plastic sorta "cloudy" this veggie oil though works fantastic.

I've used that myself and found it works on many but not all adhesives. I had a couple containers that would have made really nice T enclosures. Vegetable oil came the closest to taking the sticky off, but I ended up with a gooey mess. :-( I followed up with alcohol and even tried fingernail polish remover. A couple were usable. The others went back in recycling. I don't know why manufacturer's feel the need to permanently affix labels...
