Mine is almost 6 inch now, and is a very active display T. She loves to sit on a chunk of bark, but will quickly chase a crix or 2. Mine never burrows but sometimes hangs upside down under the bark strip. They are attractive, large Ts.

i have 3 L.Para slings with 2cm leg span last time i seen them, there pet holes now, A#-Malice has a hole the size of a penny, B#-Misfit has 3 holes and her bowl looks like en ant farm with all the tunnels, C#-Carnage has only 2 holes and none of her tunnels are visable, i feed them 2 cricket legs a week and a half meal worm. On the main tank i use a red flood light for heat. the temp drops to 70 at night and 80ish during the day, i have the screen lid 3/4 with plastic wrap misting with hot water to keep the humidity at a constant 80 inside the main tank, the temp inside the bowl under the heat lamp is a lil more around 85-90 so i also rotate/mist the bowls in side the tank every other day, Might be a bit much but it seems to be working. heres some pics

The Moult inside the frame beside the tank belongs to my G.Rosea "Chills"

LRG,

I don't think all that is really necessary for that species and all that humidity might actually cause problems with mold and fungus. I keep all my T's more dry than wet. I have never heard of a T dying from being too dry unless it was dessicated from being over heated.

My wet species, like A. aviculara and P. irminia get a soaking wet misting (like rain in a rain forest) then I let them totally dry out(the sun came out and dried up all the rain), then mist again. This is something like a 2 or 3 day cycle. Always a full water dish. NEVER limit ventilation to maintain humidity!!! They will die.

The total dry out prevents mold.

The L. parahybana are on totally dry substrate with a big water dish. No heat. As I said above one of them is 5 inches in a year and the others are between 2 and 4 inches.

I highly doubt one could reach 6" in one year. I received mine at 1" in June of last year, and it's around 3.5" now. That's pretty quick, but I don't think it'll pick up a few inches within the next three months.

Also, mine has burrowed beneath its hide all the way to the bottom of the kk. That said, it stays out in the open all the time unless I'm doing tank maintenance.
Yes 6" in one year is probably impossible, unless you powerfeed it (which is not very good for the health and longevity of the spider). You'll see 6" in 2 years easily though.

He molted for me 3 weeks ago and put on a whole inch, for a whopping total of 4.5"+. He won't hit 6" within the year, but he's probably only 2 molts away or so. He still has juvenile proportions. I expect he'll molt out alot stockier the next time around. I've also just rehoused him, and he's no longer burrowing. He just happily occupies his hide when he's not sitting in plain sight or maiming crickets. ;P
Not 6" in a year, but I'm impressed.

A size question for a little bit later than this thread has discussed... any estimates of what size a 3" female will get to in 2 years? A 4"? A 5"?

Didn't you read the thread? Two years from now that female will be adult, and probably at 8" seing as it's probably 1 year or older already. Just remember, keep it warm and well fed.

I thought there was a dramatic exponential decrease in growth rate... if it got to 8" in two years after 3", that would be 3 inches one year, maybe 2.75 inches the next, and 2.25 the third... are you sure the growth rate decreases that slowly? (BTW, i'd be really happy if it does)

I had to name one of my parahybanas "Hugo" :) I just put him on live pinheads, he's a fat .75". With growth also is his attitude :( Let's me know it'll be quite aggressive. I hoped it'd be handleable. Maybe it'll gradually get used to hands and fingers, but I'm thinkin unlikely with this particular T. Rest of his mates are only .5 -.6" and appear calmer. I keep my parahybanas warmer than most of my other T's
