Lasiodora klugi vs. parahybana

I recently bought a tarantula labeled as a "Brazillian Salmon", so I assumed it to be a L parahybana. Well, I now suspect it is not that species (will be making a thread in the picture ID board about it), and am wondering what the specific differences between the two species are. IIRC, klugi is the one with a lot of red in it, correct? Where can I find the 'official' taxonomical definition/description?

EDIT: Oh, I did not realize the 'T ID' part of the site was an aspect of the gallery. I took a lot of pics, so it will be easier for me to just post them here. My suspicion is that I either got a very red L parahybana, an L klugi, or something different but somehow similar. This T is about 2-3", molted a month ago, hides ALL the time, and is of a very nervous and defensive disposition (gave my poking-stick a hard chomp when I tried to position him). I am also 90% sure from the vent that it is a male (molt was mangled in 'burrow'.

I have been able to discern that it has two tarsi on the at least legs I and IV, just like my L para., and has scopulae on both of the last two segments of legs I. Unlike my L para, the carapace has a bit of a bronze sheen, and the setae are distinctly red. However, they are distributed in much the same fashion as my L para's; spread out evenly over the abdomen, along with all over the rest of the walking legs. Carapace shape looks roughly the same between the two. While the mystery T's carapace has the mentioned bronze sheen, its legs are very black. My L parahybana is a molt-confirmed male, but I do not think it makes a difference here.

Considering I paid $25 for this mystery T BEFORE it molted, I think I made out well, especially if it is anything other than a L parahybana.

After looking at more pics of L klugi, I am not sure it is one of those either.

It is hard to take good pics of this mystery T, he would much rather be under an inch of coco fiber than out in the open. As soon as I put him back on the shelf he dove back under the substrate.

I took a few more pics of the mystery T, maybe they help..

I agree...Lasiodora sp. are typically much more hairier, especially on the legs.

I have two B albo, and this thing is way too red to be one. All of the hairs are almost the red of a B vagans, but I have a vagans as well and it is not that either. The hair is too sparse, and the carapace is the wrong color. From what I have seen, it might be a B sabulosum or angustum, but I have not found any good pics of them to be able to tell.

I'm not going to argue about it based on just these pics but my albo had some fairly red hairs. I too thought the abdomen hairs looked a little on the red side, but I guess it's not something to base the decision on solely.

I purchased what I was told 2 L,Klugi large slings / juv's last year from the British Tarantula Sociaty Show in May 2008. I now have 2 sub adult female B. albopilosum. Looking at your photo's makes me think that you have B. albopilosum as well, but hey if it is then you got yourself a stunning tarantula, one of my favourites

but it also looks a hell of a lot like my B. albopilosum female judging by the stumpy thick legs n the wavy hairs on the legs . . i was sold my B. albo as a chaco golden knee (grammostola aureostriata) by mail order but quickly discovered that it wasnt lol. . . my curly hair is great. . .i think now your T is a curly hair. . .my "pink zebra" has most prob been mis-sold to me n is prob a curly hair.. .. its only 2cm LS atm so will have to see

I am not convinced myself that it is a B albopilosum, the rump is just too red and the hair on the legs too sparse IMO. Maybe another molt will tell.

OK, I'm not very good at distinguishing T genera...so just consider this a shot in the dark.

I happened to get both a "Brazilian salmon" (L. parahybana) and a "Bolivian salmon" (Acanthoscurria chacoana) in the same batch of slings last June, and your spider looks more like the latter. I almost thought I saw the same blue markings on the venter of yours as I posted about here:

http://www.arachnoboards.com/ab/showpost.php?p=1380928&postcount=160

(Those colors aren't terribly accurate.)

Any chance you could have some sp of Acanthoscurria?

IMO this looks much more like what I have than any B albo I have seen so far. Have any dorsal shots?

I did not notice any blue markings, though, but the pics in that link are pretty similar to what mine looks like.

I don't think the legs are as hairy as my B. albo. I am going agree with C'est ma and go with A. chacoana.
