i have an l.parahybana sling, around 1/2" mark. its dug out a burrow similar to something a lividum would create. is this typical for slings? at what point will it become more terrestrial?

I don't have experience with these but T's change their characteristics as they get "older".

Dont worry once it puts on some size it will never hide, I have 3 L.parahybanas and they stay out in the open all the time....

i still cant get it to eat crickets, i can only get ones about its size but it seems very intimidated by them, but will gladly eat legs etc i toss in. just the other day i put in a cricket and the spider immediatly appeared at the top of the burrow, i thought for sure he was going to go after the cricket, just as the cricket got close he took off running. i just scratched my head.

My parahybana sling is the same way. I prekill the crix for it. It works wonderfully. :D

See I h eard paras were fast growers and all of my other slings have out grown it due to it's eating habits. Me and you are in the same boat solace.

I just got four L. parahybana slings this week. I knew they were 1/2 inch when I ordered them but I was surprised by how small that really is. The smallest crix I can find locally are about 1/4 inch which really is the same size as the spiders length. I've had T's for 10 years but these are my first slings.

So I went to Petco and they had fruit flies. I tried these and at least one of the spiders ate one. The fruit flies don't have as much nutrition as crix and they are a pain because the can climb the sides of the vials. At same time I ordered 1/8 inch crix from Flukers Farms and they came overnight. I just put them in a couple of hours ago. (5 or 6 in each cup) These are definetly small enough. They are about 1/4 to 1/2 the spider length. You can order a 50 or 100 count crix tube from Flukers for $7 including shipping. It's a little bit expensive compared to the big crix locally but you gotta get these babies bigger and then they can take the 2 and 3 week old crix and it's back to cheap again.

I also have a 3/4 inch golden knee and it easily takes the 1/4 inch crix, so all the L. parahybana need to do is get that big.

If it molted a week ago, maybe it lost a fang through the molt. Is it visible to tell if it did or not. If it has it's fangs don't worry, just keep putting in dead crix every other day or so, and removing any that aren't eaten by the next day. Eventually it will eat if it's hungry. My Parabana has only stopped eating to molt so I don't know what else to say. Good Luck.
