I have a 6" subadult male L. klugi that does something very strange and very annoying. Any time I open the container to change water/remove uneaten prey items the spider will either respond defensively or just sit there. Then within 5-15 minutes it will climb the sides of it's container and kick off clouds of hairs. It works it's way around the whole perimeter of the container near the top kicking off hairs and depositing them on the container wall.
I have never seen anything like this. Normally a spider will kick hairs in response to intruder not wait 10 minutes, then lay down hairs all over the walls of the container. Tonight I changed the water....it drank for 15 minutes then did the hair thing. Pain in the @ss I must say.
Anyone have any ideas as to why the delay before the hairshow?

Has he always done this?

Some of my NWs will do this, but only when they are close to molting.

Maybe he was too afraid to flick when you were working in the cage, but after you left, he decided to leave you a present for the next time you came messing around his territory?
