I'm trying to get used to digicams all the times. It just won't come to my mind how to take closeup pictures. I have a Sony DSC - P7. Maybe somebody could explain to me how it works.

BTW, I love your pics Kugellager, and you made me decide the next T I need is a P irminia :)

These are my two P.irminia doing the mating dance. This is my first mating attempt with tarantulas and all appeared to go well. The male lived to mate another day.

Wow, John...great news. I wish you the best. I'm so proud of you, "sniffle sniffle"...not even in the trade but a small while and already photographing tarantula porn. They just grow up so fast. lol.

That would be a bit premature as I don't even have an egg sac yet.

Well it looks like the above mating was successful as she is now clutching her egg sac like a proud momma...lets hope she keeps it that way.

Nice pics and nice Ts.

I highly recomend the Fuji FinePix S602z camera for the experienced enthusiast. It's about as good as it gets without moving into the pro league. This is a true SLR with complete manual control over all functions and some awesome auto functions. With a 128Mb CompactFlash memory card I can take about 200 pics like this: fang shot
or this:
freshly molted B.smithi
or this:
regurgitated digestive juices

I've put URLs for the pics, since they are quite high resolution and I don't want to kill the thread for people on 56k modems.

My camera was about £600 at the end of last year, so I imagine they have dropped in price by now. The effective output is 6 megapixels, which is more than enough for anyone.

I use the Sony DSC-F717...it is 5 meg pixels...also more than enough. I just scrunched it down to 25% of original size in paint to post it here. I have 256 meg mem stick...hold 110 hi res jpg or about 30 RAW tiffs. It also has complete manual control over everything if I wish.

Sean, as far as I know, Psalmopoeus irminia can have from 30 up to 200 slings :)

John, good luck with the egg sack :D

Up to 200 slings??? Wow! She made a pretty large egg sac...more like a mini football...it measures about 2" long by 1" wide...kind of oblong.
