I know we dont measure a snake's skin to find out how long it is but here is a snake skin my king snake recently shedded. i think it its crazy how snake skin is so embedded in their bodies that when a snake has bands of two different colors (i.e. my king snake is black n white) so when you look at a king snake's skin or any snake skin with bands you can immediately tell what species it might be depending on the area you are in. however, this wont work if you live across seas and you ordered a corn snake which is native to north america lol or if you ordered a boa from online which is native to south america and you live in the USA lol and so on

however with corn snakes You can't really tell because i had a corn snake that was red and orange but the shedded skin from it was not banded..does anyone know why?

Below is my king snake shed not corn snake:

The color that appears on a shed skin is from black/brown pigment, since your corn snake was a amel (lacking dark pigment) it had nothing to show on the skin.
Of all my corns, only one shows a pattern when she sheds and she is a ghost. I have a MBK and her shed are a solid shiny sliver.

I'm not sure what you mean by "embedded in their bodies." It's their skin, so yes you're likely to see their skin's color/patterns in it. {D My ball python's shed skins are very distinctive.

If the snake has a pattern, it will show up on the shed skin. My albino boas all have patterns on their sheds. But, the lighter the snake, the harder it may be to see the patterns...so, you may have to hold it up to light. Albino corns also give off patterned sheds...unless it's a blizzard, as they don't have any patterning to them. Even my GTPs and ETBs give off patterned sheds.
