Today I am taking our 4 A. verrucosus, 1 A. cristatus, and 1 unknown darkling beetle to my daughters school. Should be fun, I cannot wait to see the reactions from the children.

It will be 2 kindergarten classes and a preschool class.

We gave my daughters class a jar with wax worms that are beginning to form cocoons, they are all excited for that! We bought the wax worms for a mantid that we were supposed to get, but that fell through. Now they are educational tools. We will feed a couple moths to the A. cristatus.

It went so well! The kids were amazed by the insects. It may have even helped the teachers get over their own fears. All three teachers asked where we got the beetles, so hopefully some business will go to bugsinscyberspace.com!

Top question: "Are those spiders?" Boy am I glad we were able to teach them! So they learned about the differences between insects and arachnids, diurnal vs nocturnal, nymph life cycle vs metamorphosis, and that bugs are actually cool and can be cute :) it was a lot of fun.

What fun! I love sharing my bugs and spiders with kids, too.
