Kenyan Scorpion ?

I met this animal today in Kahawa Sukari, Kenya, in a mash/swampy area after a night of rain. I first thought it was a lobster lol but have been told it is some kind of scorpion. It is around 15cm long.

Can anyone more knowledgable clarify?

Not a scorpion. Looks like a crayfish. Definitely not a scorpion

Oh right, thank you for clearing that up Must be a freshwater kind given its hundreds of miles from the sea

I don't know much about them but around here in the southern US crayfish are pretty much smaller freshwater lobsters

We get some crayfish here in Michigan that are up too 8 inches long, Great find.

An 8 inch crayfish is HUGE!!

Looks to me to be procambarus clarkii aka red swamp crayfish. Native to North America but invaded pretty much everywhere

There are ALOT of invasive species crayfish here in CA.

definitely a procambarus clarkii,known to be widely introduced worldwide thanks to their ability to tolerate polluted and brackish water, making them a troublesome invasive species.
