Not a scorpion. Looks like a crayfish. Definitely not a scorpion

Oh right, thank you for clearing that up :) Must be a freshwater kind given its hundreds of miles from the sea

I don't know much about them but around here in the southern US crayfish are pretty much smaller freshwater lobsters

Looks to me to be procambarus clarkii aka red swamp crayfish. Native to North America but invaded pretty much everywhere

There are ALOT of invasive species crayfish here in CA.

definitely a procambarus clarkii,known to be widely introduced worldwide thanks to their ability to tolerate polluted and brackish water, making them a troublesome invasive species.
