how do you guys do this if there are a couple crickets that the spider isn't ready to dine on yet...but you dont have anywhere else to keep them...someone told me to put a tiny peice of potato in there?? does that sound like a good idea to you guys and girls...

I would say if the spider doesn't want to eat them, take them out. If it is in pre-moult they might cause problems if it sheds and decide to take a bite out of your pet. If your T has moulted and you know it's not due for another I would say you could leave them, but personally I wouldn't. The spider will kill them if they annoy it too much. I always remove the prey from the tank if it is uneaten after 24 hours.

Get more tarantulas Nathan. That way you can always just throw them in with a voracious eater.

Take any uneaten crickets out and place them into a separate container with a piece of potato or carrot or chicken mash for food and they should survive until they get used.

Well......I have a tall unused plastic garbage can (no need for a lid) where I keep my adult crickets......I put in some of that Fluker's cricket food (in a lid) & Cricket water (in a lid) & a bit of egg carton & they are happy until they get their reward of being munched by one of my Ts.:D

(edited to add) I also use tropical fish food flakes for additional nutrition & sometimes a slice of orange (crickets seem to love that).........this is far more nutritional than a potato......AND......when the Ts munch them......they in turn receive GOOD food. :D

when feeding them fish flakes do you give it to them dry or moist? I've got a big container of fish flakes I'd like to use up.

Fish flakes are served dry:D

I keep my crickets in a plastic shoe box.
Just poke a bunch of holes in it:rolleyes:
Shallow lids for water dishes and cat food
thats dusted with vitamin powder.

Crickets need a dry environment or they will die quickly.

They tend to smell, so make sure they have good
ventillation (sp?)
