For pokies, and other arboreals, i like these containers, but prefer the screw top ones-

Drill plenty of holes in the top and sides for ventilation. A little bit of substrate (2" or so) works well along with a piece of cork bark or fake plants in with them. I like giving them a bit of substrate because i notice they tend to make their tube webs down into the substrate.

Light misting once or twice a week, and a water dish at all times depending on how large the specimen is (3"+ = water dish for me). Feed them once every week or every other week. Room temps are fine for pretty much all tarantulas (~70-80F).

Always use tongs when working inside the enclosure, and never let your guard down no matter if the pokie is in its hide or not... they can be very very fast when they want to be, and come out of the enclosure in the blink of an eye!

Other than that, just watch your fingers and enjoy them! My pokie has been one of the fastest growing species i have ever had. It has molted more often than my L. parahybana, P. murinus, and Cyriopagopus sp.! They are fun, and i want to get another! :)

Cheers,
Nate

you both must've been reading my mind;) i recently purchased some of those snapware containers (2nd pic) for housing Ts. do you think the size is appropriate for a 1 inch p. regalis (which i'm very excited to be getting soon!)? or rather, what is the smallest size T that you would house in there without it being overwhelmed? i was going to put a generous sized piece of bark and some substrate in as well. also a random ?, to what age/molt is a spider still considered a 'sling'? thanks!

sorry for the necro, figured it would be better than starting a new thread on an old topic.

What is the largest pokie youd house in a snapware? I will eventually get a 10 gallon for my ornata, but until then its on 1 3/4". how long can I keep him in snapware, and any tips on reaching in there to remove food or molts without getting attacked? I know they are fast and have a hell of a bite, Im a beginner so if Im gonna get bit Id rather have it be by my B. Sabulosum.

That sounds pretty practical. I think when they get close to 6 inches they will be ready for a 10 gal stood on its end, with a Robc plexi glass front door.
