Hi, guys I am normally in the T section, but I have been interested lately in getting some jumping spiders. I found a few sites to order them from, but how are they to be kept. What to have in the tank, what size tank. Also what temp and humidity requirements. We have them around here to so I am assuming that room temp and normal humidity levels. I have read that they can get up to a inch but can take prey bigger than themselves. Anything else you think I should know.

I usually catch jumpers at my house and raise them for a while then release. But this year I caught one to house over the winter. They are easy to keep, they can take down larger prey items. I have bought some also this year and can tell you they are or can be very small when ordered. The size of a dot on a piece of paper. So if you plan on ordering try to find out the size. Unless that doesn't matter. They can eat pinhead crix. I have gotten mine to eat fruit flies with no problems. I raise fruit flies easily also. You can search jumpers and see a size comparison of one of my jumpers. I have some pictures on this forum. They obviously are not full grown but that is the size you could get. They are cool spiders and I plan on getting more.

Normal room temps are fine
(Adults) I keep mine in a jar or small container with a few items to crawl on (twigs). Milk jug cap for water bowl. You can fill with sm. pebbles to keep from drowning. Haven't seen drink though.
(young) Kept in shipping container as they are super small and would be lost in larger container.
Drop of water in container with a branch of moss or two.

Cheers...

I find them around the house, or outside in the summer. I have kept 2-3 of them before (seperate). I just put them in deli cups w/ something to climb on. They can eat prey a little larger than themselves :) It is really fun to watch! They look like little robots :)

I have had them molt, etc. They get excited easy to. I usually let them go in the summer. I have seem some very colorful and strange looking ones. I love to chase them when they are on my car, hehehe They will jump on your finger though :)
