I decided to poke around a frozen maitake mushroom on an old stump out back and I broke off a piece of it and within it there was several beetle grubs. If I put the old mushroom in a container would they grow and pupate? or would they need to stay dormant the rest of the winter? Some of the grubs looked like scarab larvae and others more like spiky ladybug larvae but all were smaller than a grain of rice.
