I bought this a while back as a trap door spider. I have been told that it's actually an Ancylo...something or other. I cant spell it. Well she has molted a few times in my care. I never see her. Once in a blue moon I can see her through the plastic. Last night I saw her burrow was open, so I threw her a cricket.

Neat, do you have any pics of the invert other than it's tarsal segments?

I don't mind pet holes that much, I think they are nice to have though I am out of pet holes at the moment.

Yea she is a beauty. Its a shame that I never get to see her, but I love pet holes either way. I got a decent deal on her at a local bug/reptile show way back for 8$ I think.

Hi,

this is an Idiops. spp., an African Trapdoor spider.

Best regards,

Björn

PS: The last shot of her... there she is relatively fresh molted. I hope you have not digged her out only because of photo stuff...

gorgeous! those spiders are beautiful, but i like seeing them grab their prey more then anything. my red rump tarantula has dug a tunnel in his substrate, and shoots out like a flash of lightning for crickets!

You know what I mean...

It`s egoistic to disturb fresh molted species only for photo things...

It is better to leave them in their tubes.. everytime.

Beautiful spider? I don`t think so.. by the way.

But is a thing of personal taste...

No I dug her up because I saw the molt and thought that she had died since she hadnt eaten in months.
