Hi, I did some pede hunting in the Puglia region of Southern Italy (in fact I didn't know you'd get pedes there, so I was really surprised when I found my first!)
Some observations:
- The largest ones were found under large flat rotting bits of wood (when I was digging up Ts in Yucatan it was the same, every large dead bit of wood had its resident Brachypelam sp, and some a huge Centruroid sp!!)
- It is common to find an adult and a juvenile under the same rock/bit of wood, as well as other critters such as spiders and even geckos.
- They can be found real close to the sea, even on sand.
- They can be found in seemingly very, very dry areas.
- I never found any in pine forests (only Scutigeridae there)
- There were colour variations in the same area.
I didn't collect any, but now really wish I had. In fact if there are any enthusiasts near that area who would be willing to do a field trip, I'd be interested to hear from you!
