Hello there Fellow slings,

Now I've just got my 2nd T a lovely G.Pulchra unsexed only 5 cm and 4 y.o. I have a 5 y.o
B.Vagans also about 8,5 cm female.

Now then before I got into this hobby having owned , daschhunds, chinchillas, hamsters, guenipigs, chiclids and a many other tropical fish,
birds in all forms from budgies, to finches....big animal lover and I have always prided my self
with getting as much knowledge and information before getting a new animal in my house
so I have some idea what I'm dealing with.....

That is why I bought "The Tarantulas Keepers Guide", spend a month online, forums, youtube, hompages ect ect...before I bought my first T, Rosita my B.Vagans as to not mess up and
fore most be able to take good care of the animal now in my CARE.

What realy gets me stone Cold mad is when I read this on Facebook..."I wan't to buy my grand daughter a Tarantula she's is obsesed with them wich one should I buy" ?.......

I nearly screamed at the screen.....now people in general does not hold many animals in the manner they are supposed to be kept.....but many have absolutely no respect for small and
wonderfull beings like Tarantulas........

It realy gets to me when people buy living Things and don't even bother to get a minimum of information and knowledge.

Have a nice weekend

You really should stop letting all this upset you so much.
I know gets to me when peeps are rather stupid :)

Going for a cup of coffee and to check on my G.Pulchra, (Samba) it's having a ball digging every thing up under a Cork bark....

But c'mon you're getting mad at someone asking which is the best to buy. That's how it starts, not everyone is into the legwork but asking is hardly 'stupid'

But imho you just don't go out and buy a Tarantula just because you're grand daughter wants one.......

I agree with your perspective, but the silver lining i see is this : a grandfather and grand daughter aren't looking at them like terrifying monsters and the T hobbyist ranks are swelling, all you can do is hope they care enough about the creature to take into consideration it's best interests.

But you do, that's how you get anything, someone has to want it first. Lots of vids on Youtube of a cat or dog surprise, not many comments saying you &%$%$ how dare you get that. The grandmother asks, may go to a shop and research, parents my have a say in it. Grandaughter could be 32

I feel like buying a tarantula for someone who is showing interest in Ts is a particularly grand gesture and possibly even a unexpected hobby to bond over in the family.

How do you know they're not going to research the species that is suggested?
I'm sure they can take good care of one Tarantula...
