I don't keep centipedes and know very little about them. I know certain species of centipedes can get large and all but a friend shared this on fb earlier and I'm just curious. Has something of this size ever been recorded in modern history or could it even exist? Apparently it's a photo from the Vietnam war.

nope, thats a confirmed hoax.
its being held closer to the camera, perhaps by string.

I had a buddy send me this a while back asking the same thing, i told him it was probably two stuck together to make it so large. There was a similar hoax a couple years ago from the middle east and they did the same thing with two Camel Spiders. Although this is clear to the insect-familiar eye, the age of the photo and distance of the Centipede pic makes it a little harder to tell
