How did this slug get in there??

Ok so a couple of minutes ago I saw this snail looking thing on the side of my T's waterdish.
So I took it out of the tank.
To me it looks like a little slug but I might be wrong.
And any ideas on how that might have gotten in there??

Please let me know if you know what it might be and how it might have gotten in there.

It hitched a ride into the cage. Do you have any plants in the cage? Rocks or pieces of wood that came from outdoors? Those would be the most obvious choices.
