Is there any truth to this? Shouldn't feed locusts AT ALL at room temperature?

They live in nature where it is essentially ‘room temperature’ and do A okay, so I would only assume no.

If I were a locust and had to eat those crappy dry pellets that are in the boxes, I would refuse to digest that as well. Keep them dry, give them grass or clover to eat, and they do just fine. What i did notice is that high-water-content greenery like salads should be given sparingly. They are adapted to very dry conditions. Still, as with crickets: First thing when I bought them is to rehouse into a critter keeper with some branches for molting and a water dish. Even desert locusts are usually abysmally dehydrated and thirsty after their journey from the breeder through the pet shop to you.
