Ok so I think my jumping spider is about to lay eggs.
I caught her about three weeks ago in my back yard. She is an adult bold jumping spider. For the past two weeks she has began to get fatter, but my thoughts were either 1. I needed to vary her diet up a little from just mealworms because they are high in fat or 2. She's just a female and they are naturally bigger than males. Well, I got home from a trip yesturday and she has made a resting web, but closed herself completely inside. I tried to feed her for three days before leaving, but she never once tried to eat her meal worms or crickets. Before leaving, I wondered if she was pregnant because she looked ready to burst. Could my spider be pregnant, or is something wrongmm

If she's a wild-caught adult, she very well could be gravid.

If by some chance she is a juvenile, she may be preparing to molt.

What is about the average size of a juvenile? Legs included, she is probably about the size of a quarter
