i've had my new red eyed tree frog for 2 days now looks like a dried up sorta brown color (still has green and blue/ stripes...and orange...the only brown color is on its lower back) and has some weird specks/spots....i constantly spray it to keep it moist....im currently going to buy either a fogger or a mister...what could possibly make my frog have these syptoms?

It almost sounds like its not getting enough nutrients, if it's not that, I would have to wonder what your heating looks like....Perhaps it could be that it is just too hot, and not humid enough ::shrugs::

I could have imagined this, but it seems like I read a few years ago that these frogs change color. During the day, they usually look pretty bland but when active at night, their colors are very bright. There may not be a problem with your frog. But I'd go check that info out because I know there are several sp and I don't know much about them. A cool frog though. I thought about getting a couple years ago but never did.

It's hard to tell from your picture, but it looks like your frog is a bit underweight. Yes they do change color, but the blotches of bright green on a brown body just dont seem right?

Is your water dechlorinated? Your frog could be sick too, mabye a parasite or infection, or stress.

Red eyes live in tress, so have you tried giving anything other than crickets and roaches, tree frogs eat bugs that live in trees, not really the ground. Crickets are ok, and roaches, but flying food will really get their attention.

You can try the moth of waxworms, fruit flys (flightless), and if you can, captive bred houseflies. (fish bait and tackle sell sterile (no disease) maggots you could raise to flies)

I'll see if i can find what else could be wrong.

i personal think its stress of moving into a new home but i dnt think that would cause such a dramatic effect on its skin....umm...and yes for some reason it hasnt been eating...:(

Your humidity is to high for the amount of heat, your gauges may be reading other wise, but drop the temp to 74, and the humidity for 60-70 for a few days. Its pretty common.

perhaps you are doing everything right and you just bought a sick frog.. I mean if you have only had it for 2 days I dunno.. what is the set up like? have you been handling it alot? are you conditioning your water?

Stress is a very real possibility, but if it wont eat that's not good.

Try flightless fruit flies with the crickets, see if he/she will eat.

If your doing everything right and he wont eat in the next 2 days, then you know he is sick, and you can focus on finding out what's wrong.

thats strange.. so is the water conditioned or no? cause that could be it.. everything else seems to be okay.. and thats a pretty quick drop in health for the poor thing.

No filtered is not enough, there are special water treatment kits sold at pet stores, to take the harmful chemicals out of the water.

I think PH of the water is important too.
