'ill' Whip scorpion

Hiya

A whip scorpion (damon viagratus i think it is) arrived this morning, a good friend sent me it, and I know that the scorp's condition ha snothing to do with him. Anyway, it arrived pretty de-hydrated and 'stale' ; i though it was dead when i saw it. After spraying it it slowly began to 'drink some water' so I placed it in a warm dark area inside a humid ICU setup.

6 Hours later now. It's improved, it will respond to contact in that if I touch it, it withdraws the area that is touched, but no actual 'movement' yet, other than constant drinking from a wet bit of tissue ive gave it to drink from

Any advice? By the time i reply again it may well be dead, but I'm hoping not. Thanks for any advice anyway

Sounds like you're doing all you can for it. As far as I know, they love humidity so keep it moist in there. You may want to put a water dish in there as opposed to a piece of wet towel for it to drink from. How easy is it for you to drink from a towel...

They love humidity, but they also need to be well ventilated. I learned that the hard way.

Well, it's responding a little.. though im not too confident that it's going to recover. It still only moves the big spindly leg, VERY SLIGHTLY, and its mouth to drink.

The reason I gave it water via a bit of tissue is that it doesnt have enough water to operate its legs and other body parts. It can't walk to get to a water bowl - the wet tissue is next to its mouth where it 'chews the water out'
