Hello all, I am new to this because my roommate recently found a couple spiders in my dorm room. We took pictures because they looked dangerous...a website had pictures of 2-day old black widows and they look very similar. can anyone confirm this?

Not at black widow, not even in the same family. Kinda looks like a Dytiscid, but the picture is blurry.

Given the posture of the spider it looks a lot like a jumping spider. Does it have rediculously big eyes??

Yeah, it's not a widow. If you give us the state or region you are from, we can better help identify it. The good news is that since it isn't a widow, you probably don't have to be creeped out by it. Keep it on the window, this way you won't have fly trouble in the summer :) .

well it looks like i was mistaken ( I know nothing about spiders). I live near Sacramento, California, if that helps. Here is the website where i saw the photos of the "2 day old black widows" and I still think they look very similar! http://www.spiderzrule.com/redblack.htm

On that linked website, please go down further until you see a set of shots of widows in jars, with eggsacs and then with all the dots in the jar. That's how tiny the spiderlings are when they are just hatched. I think the shots of the 2 day old widow spiderlings don't convey just how tiny these creatures are, even though there is a dime in the picture for reference.

And as widows grow and molt, the coloration/patterns change quite rapidly. You wouldn't see 2 day coloration/pattern on a widow that was as large as the spider you have on your window screen or whatever that mesh is.

Nice link. Fun!
